This Place Is Done!
What a diffence a year makes, which was the last time I was there. it used to be a thriving night club now it's just sad. I don't even know where to begin, the parking if just awful due tthe light rail construction, the drinks are way over priced and the small crowd that was there were high on attitude. Oh and let me not forget to mention the crappy DJ. Hey dj, not everyone is into all the generic anthem music. I noticed that this place has been taken over by straight women, constantly got slammed with pocket books all night. ladies keep the purses home or atleast off the dancefloor. This night was a waste, won't be going back!
One of the best in Phoenix
It is one of the best gay places in Phoenix. Nice environment and music; great faces. More like a real place compare to the rest cowboy, neighborhood dirty bars.
The Fat Lady Has Sung
Im not sure if the building of the light rail has affected business or if Amstrerdam's time has come and gone. It truly has become a relic and believe it's days are numbered. Unless they do something to bring the crowd back. It seems ever since they expanded the magic is lost. Also agree with oter reviewers the music and the dj has got to go.
FADED GLORY
In Phoenix, Amsterdams is a lankmark. This club originally gave Phoenix everything it never had in a Gay Bar. There was nothing like it before of since that could compare to the decore or style in which it operated. However, in this past year something has changed drastically! The adjacent club which will remain namelsee because it deserves to, has taken the regal feel away from Amsterdams. The rear patio area has lost the charm of an old World garden and now makes one feel that are trapped in an old second rate Beach Party movie with the Big Kahona! In the old days Amsterdam staff provided excellent service and made you feel welcome. The crowd always had that upper crust attitude, but not in a snobby way, but more so in an OLD MONEY way. That is all gone. Now Amsterdams stands like a relic of grand style and tradition gone bad. It is devoid of the charm that made it a special place and unique. Now all you find there is the shell of a glorious past.
Over It
Gee I went here over the Labor Day weekend and it was so dead. The crowd that was there was so uneventfull. i agree with the past few reviewers...don't bother with this place anymore. Their drinks are so expensive.
