Amsterdam (Closed Permanently)

(79 Ratings)
Piano bar with a wide variety of music and great martinis
Check out the bar, chandelier and ornate decorations (yes, that's marble). Live shows and entertainment throughout the week. Check out their Monday martini specials, a great place to be on an otherwise quiet night.

Hours
Daily 4 p.m.—2 a.m. (til 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday)

Not a really a gay bar any more

When I want to go to a GAY bar I don't go to Amsterdam any more. It is still a nice place. A great place to go dancing but not the place to meet gay men. It is also expensive & damn it, they never play the right video with the music playing on the flat screens in the main bar. It is extremely irritating.

#1 Bar in PHX

Really, this bar is well structured, decor is high end, great music and entertainment, a great place to unwind during the week and a fab place to dance and socialize on weekends. This place is fun and energetic, from one A to another, I recommend you stop and hit A w/ full force!

Not the same

Amsterdam has slowly been changing over the past few years. I would not even classify it as a Gay Bar anymore. Sure if you go at the right time ie the slower times it is more Gay, but on a weekend night the dance floor is mostly Straight due to the music they play and they type crowd it attracts. I say skip it and go to Kobalt or some other bar that supports the community more.

can't get to the bar through the 'tude

bar staff? aloof but efficient. this feels like the last outpost for gays who think they're "it" but kind of aren't. TOO MANY GIRLS. and i'm not talking 'bout our lesbian sisters...i'm talking about drunk straight girls in overtaxed miniskirts smooshing their way throught the crowd and being super loud and obnoxious. gays stay in their "pods" at this place and it's hard to meet new folks here. the dance music needs some work

Wayyyyy too expensive

This bar has changed a lot over the years...And not for the better. They have the smallest martini glasses I have EVER seen. They must have had them custom made that small!! They are just blatently ripping everyone off. Pretentious atmosphere that is totally undeserved.
