***** Very young crowd
Posted: June 05, 2009
For some reasons, this place attracts very young crowd... most of them are under 25... some of them look like just graduated from high school yesterday.

***** Brian's thoughts

Sunday's from 10 to 12 PM Homme features the Leathermen AZ; hot strippers in leather chaps and thongs. The place gets packed early so don't waste time getting there. Ryan, Ken, Ace and Gage are really hot, well built guys who aim to please. Hot! Hot! Hot!

***** Fun people
Posted: September 27, 2008
I've been here when it's packed and also when it's dead. It's a real fun place, nice bartenders, except count your drinks, sometimes it gets crazy. The bathrooms suck, they are all wet and girls lock themselves in the single stall ladies room doing who knows what, and you have to end up using the men's room, although they don't seem to mind. Good music, strong drinks, but a bit on the small and loud side to really talk to anyone.

***** Its been a while to see real gay pride
Posted: July 01, 2008
One of my favorite bars here in phoenix closed (hopefully for a short while) but Homme stepped up to the plate and allowed the bartenders to work at Homme untill there bar is up and running. We used to help each other out. Now we gouge for the gay dollar.

***** Good times...
Posted: March 18, 2008
I've been to Homme a few times since it opened, and I have to say... I freakin' love it. I've only been on the weekends, so I can't speak for the weeknights, but I love French Kiss on Fridays. Glad the crowd has always been bumpin, just wish the updstairs dance floor was a little bigger. Also, loving the smoking patio... great job with decor... Nice underground feeling! <3

***** Change is Good?
Posted: March 16, 2008
Well this sure is a big change from the days of Johnny MC's. Yes, it's nice to have a dance area downstairs. But the concept of having a DJ upstairs is retarded. The upstairs is too small for dancing and a DJ set up. The few times we were there (upstairs) it was like a DJ and his 10 friends standing around. No dance atmosphere. A big mistake. The upstairs was always a good place for conversation, not anymore. Now the manager has decided to make it a mixed bar with mostly straight disc jockeys and their groupies. Can't see the gay community supporting this for much longer.

***** Great surprise
Posted: October 13, 2007
I visit Phoenix often. This is always a must for me. Friendly staff and crowd. Such a nice change from the frosted and too tanned. Generally young art student types but I still felt comfortable and smiling. Not very cruisy but great fun. I really didnt expect this in Phoenix. I will be back.

***** hmm...
Posted: July 22, 2007
I think this club is perfect for those coming from a long, hard, energy consuming day of being nice to crazy people all day long. The atmosphere was definately hip and the crowd was willing to dance as long as the music was louder than the people. To really have fun I would recommended showing up in costume--everyone else is doing it! Protecting your ego with layers is the thing to do nowadays.

***** Good Lounge Bar

It's one of those places you can go to unwind and have some drinks with a friend or two. I like the house type set-up and the drinks are great.

***** locals and travelers...something for everyone
Posted: November 20, 2006
every time I have been to Homme the crowd has been a little different, but still tied together with a hip and slightly "underground" gay scene. I have found this city to host mosty AF and tan crazy stereotypes...while that is all nice and good. It is nice to know a place where the more scene is more in tune with the art and music scene. (Think Brooklyn meets San Fran...) Fridays have been a hit every time we go. The staff is chill and the crowd always has a smile. I have never had a problem with bitchy types usually found in the gay culture. It seems this bar has found a nitch not usually attempted by the gay scene. I am new to the area and fell in love with it. If youre traveling...STOP IN!! If anything, for a few before hitting the typical spots that people complain about, but still go to. I think this bar has different themes every night. I have been on First fridays and on Wednesdays. both were fun!

I have to say compared to other local bars in Phoenix..this one takes the prize. They have tried something different..It's one of only a few that isn't dingy and nasty. Great job to the owners. Keep up the great job!

***** What's all the fuss?
Posted: August 08, 2006
Holy cow, WOW! I don't understand what the fuss is all about on these posts. Ever since I was introduced to Homme, I was a little skeptical. Living here in AZ for so long you get used to your "hangout" places, which is understandable. Homme has grown on me and now I enjoy going and being able to throw back a few and bull $hlt with friends. I'm enjoying attending the weekly events occasionally as well as frequenting it on weekends. I can give nothing but kudos to this place. The atmosphere is non-threatening, the crowd very friendly, and the staff are great. Drink are reasonably priced and well made. I can go to any other bar in town and spend just as much $$ if not more for the same drinks (unless you want to strip down to your underwear or something weird like that, not my thing). I'm loving the guest DJ's and the dance crowd. Keep things up Homme!

***** Unbiased opinion from a new guy in town...
Posted: August 06, 2006
This is not a compare and contrast between "old" and "new" like some of the other comments here. I moved to Phoenix about 9 months ago, so I can only speak to the bar I have come to know and love. From the decor, to the staff, the owners, the music...it really is an awesome place to go grab an adult sparkling beverage and hang out with friends. Perhaps the best selling point this bar has is this: It is a "slightly" different crowd every night. There are always people there that you know, but a nice mix of new folks coming in also. Of all the bars I've visited since being in town, Homme has the best "pulse" out there (and their pulse is getting stronger every weekend). A real positive feeling about this place where you go visit. Just one humble opinion from the "new guy" in town.

Well, I've been to Homme a few times. Do I like it? I am not sure. You've gotta like the color blue and the uncertainity if it will be busy or not. The atmosphere there tries to be "upscale" however it doesn't exactly attract that clientle. You gotta like them young and the club types. The lesbian bartenders tend to attract the women. Long gone are the older Johnny Mc typess who were told they weren't welcome. Seems like Homme is trying to find it's idenity- opening later so the after work crowd has to wait til 6pm and goes elsewhere, no more non-smoking lower level, no Sunday brunch and the unused dart machines and pool table are gone. I think Homme needs to come to term with it's identity and cater to all gays. Or it is bound to not make it in this competive gay bar environment. Something to think about.

***** Quite Nice
Posted: June 10, 2006
I give this place an A for effort. It's about time Phoenix got a top notch bar. It's so sad Gay's inPhoenix wouldn't know a good bar if it bit them on thier asses. I'm so tired of the lame, bland, no charachter bars this city has to offer. And yet all the fags rush to them in flocks (the blind leading the blind). They even wear the same outfits..no originality in this town. So of course God forbid a new place that was different opened here in Phoenix. It has a nice set up and nice touch throwing the smoke lounge upstairs, can't wait for the law that bans smoking. Were the fifth largets city in the country and yet so far behind in current laws.. The place is real cool, nice inviting set up, as opposed to those old decrepid bars (Friends, etc). If you don't like it stick to what you know.

***** So is it a good place or what?-rating unknown

I really wish disputes would be kept out of reviews. As a future tourist of Phoenix, I am confused by all the animosity created for the following bar. Is there an impartial rating out there?

***** Not West Hollywood
Posted: June 02, 2006
Nice Job on the remodel but the West Hollywood People live there not in Central Phoenix ! An investigative pre-look at demographics(ie: neighboring bars - Charlies,Bunk House,Mistys,Apollos,Harleys,Friends) one would see the 45+ crowd that has always been the other bars main stay. Naming a Bar "Homme" (french for man) then hiring a Lesbian Manager and hiring a self proclaimed" 12 year old girl in a 31 year old man's body" and Opie Taylor in hip hugger pants and playing games on his cell phone does not attract any crowd. Latest is that the bar after attempting to be "The Bar Everyone is Waiting For" is now for sale. "Things that make you go Hmmm "or "Do the Math".

I support all gay establishments in the Valley. I've also had the pleasure to have met the former owners of Johnny MCs and new owners of Homme. I think Homme is a great location. As new owners of a bar that had been around for many many years, it is certain that you will get the 'bad' reviews from former 'regulars.' I too was a former regular at Johnny MC's...I was a little skeptical when I heard it was sold - however, after my first night at Homme I have to say that I really enjoy what Jeremy and Terry did with the place. It is very uptown. It's a very clean establishment and the drinks are wonderful. I love the music that they have there along with the occasional campy film being shown. All the waiters and the staff are VERY nice and extremely helpful. It's unfortunate that some people hate change...that is not Homme's fault, I along with many others will continue to patronize this fine location. Keep up the great work and thanks for starting 2-4-1 Thursdays! :)

***** Response to recent reviews
Posted: November 15, 2005 - Visited: November 2005
As one of the owners of the bar, this site was recently brought to my attention. After reading the reviews I am shocked and abhorred at the personal attacks made on the bar as well as the former owners. We hold both Johnny and George in high esteem and are nothing but grateful for their support and guidance. As a community we should stick together and not try and tear each other down. Since opening, the bar has raised money for Body Positive, GLEASEN, and the Lesbian Health Project. We are dedicated to giving back to the community and will continue to do so any way we can. I am sorry that there are such strong feelings about the new ownership, but hope as a community the personal judgments (especially those made against the former owners) can come to an end.

***** To each their own
Posted: November 07, 2005 - Visited: November 2005
Hey, to each their own. If going to an establishment that has terrific ambiance, a great and diverse crowd, excellent drinks at reasonable prices, fantastic staff, and owners that truly care about the community is not your thing, then go to where you feel comfortable. But try, if you are able, to show more class in your postings, please. There are no valid points when they are showered with mean spirited digs at the character of people you do not know. I cannot fathom feeling more welcome anywhere else. Thank you, Homme!

***** I AGREE- WASTE OF A GOOD EVENING
Posted: November 07, 2005 - Visited: November 2005
I have tried to support Homme since it has opened but with the Owners, Manager and all but 2 of the staff walking around feeling like they are better than everyone else it has become apparent that this so called Hot Spot is DOOMED. My heart truly goes out to Ed and Al since they are the only two that actually know what their doing. BEWARE- If you ask for a drink ask for the well because they are charging more for the same alcohol if they take it off the shelf. I know this because I happen to drink Jim Beam and it has 2 different prices. I would call that theft by deception. TCB-FJ

***** Employee written reveiws dont count
Posted: November 06, 2005 - Visited: November 2005
Nice try with getting the current employees to write great reviews but the fact of the matter is that HOMME is probably the worst concept I have ever seen for a bar. As far as the crowd the many times I've been there the so called crowd was out weighed by employees. When you have 2 dumb gays and a lesbian( She's the 1 that ran the Plazma into the ground) running the place "NOTHING BUT FAILURE CAN COME OF THIS PLACE"

***** The BEST place to be in town!!
Posted: November 04, 2005 - Visited: November 2005
There is no way as a lesbian I would have willingly gone to the old, dark, run- down, "senior citizen's" bar! The new look and crowd makes this the hottest spot around town! They have all sorts of new and fun liquors and beers and always seem to be adding more! Plus the prices are less then some of these hole in the wall and snooty places in town. Better liquor + no attitude + new look + great staff = BEST BAR IN TOWN!

Take a old, dark and dingy bar and turn it into a refreshing and upbeat place to hang! Love it! The staff is awesome and friendly. These bar owners know how to support the community with fabulous art work from local gay artists. Out with the old and in with the new I say!!! Good job gentleman.

Not sure what was with the negative feedback. Great new bar, really cool atmosphere, projected old films, and a refreshingly mixed crowd. I've had a great few nights there the times I've been. Nice to see a mix of scenes and age groups. Highly recommended.

***** How to ruin a tradition

This bar was Phoenix traditon until it was recently sold to to 2 in-experienced owners who think blue paint, glitter and over priced drinks make a bar. Rememer I said Phoenix not Scottsdale
