A LOT OF THE GUYS WERE TOTALLY AWESOME. THIER LIL C'BOY HATS, TITE LEES, BULGING CROTCHES, SWEATING VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. A GUY FOR EVERYONE AND THE HOURS WERE FANTASTIC. MEET AT LEAST 12 HOOKUPS THAT REMAINED FRIENDS, AMONST THE PERSONAL FRIEND I MISS THE MOST WHO DID THE MOST FOR PEOPLE WITHOUT EXPECTATION WAS GOOD OL "ARTIE." HE IS CERTAINLY IN HEAVEN AND HAD A HEART OF GOLD AND I ALWAYS APPRECIATED HOW THE STAFF TREATED HIM, EVEN CHARLIES ONE AND OWNLY PUSSY LEHOOT. HOW MANY TIMES SHE WANTED TO TAKE ME HOME AND DIDN'T, BUT NOW BEING STUCK IN ND, WITH ACTUAL CATTLE AND BUFFALOS, I WISH I WERE A CUDDLIN' WITH HER RIGHT NOW. PSSU IF YA STILL AROUND DROP ME A LINE AND I'LL DROP YOU A .....? SUGGEST THAT CHARLIE'S HAVE A REUNION. IT WAS MY FIRST GAY BAR I VISITED AFTER MOVING THERE AND I HAPPENED TO APPEAR ON UNDERWEAR NIGHT. I MIGHT AS WELL LEFT BREAD CRUMBS FOR THE LINE DANCERS TO FOLLOW ME, SO I USED CONDOMS INSTEAD. THEY WORK GREAT IN LARGE COMPLEXES. PUSSY, TAKE UP A DONATION IN REMEMBERANCE OF ARTIE' AND FLY ME BACK DOWN FROM ND. WE WERE EACH OTHERS' LAST LOVE AND NOW, I'M GOING TO BE SEEING HIM SOON AS WELL.

For line dancing and two-steppining or if you are just into cowboys, don't miss Charlies in Phoenix. They also have one in Denver.

My friend and I go occasionally, I am a celebit straight, and she is a Trans. The guys are always so nice and complimentary to me, makes me feel young again and I don't feel hit on when they compliment me. Cheap drinks, but watch the flooring outside if you wear heels it is treacherous I slipped off a step last week ( no only drinking water) right on my hiney! Two big strong cowboys helped me up though thanks fellas! But I was still red faced I can tell you!

great place to go out dancing, meet up place and stuff, with its patio and pool tables, not to mention smoking area, it is a must for the cowboy lovers... have not made it to the dancing lessons but I intend to before I get busy again.

Dear Charlie's—On Jan. 19th, I came to your bar not knowing what to expect, but after talking with your doorman had a great time. I'm from North Dakota and used to live in Phoenix. I haven't been to Charlie's in over 12 years. I love what you have done with the bar. And when I'm in Phoenix you can bet I'll be there. Thanks for a great time and for the strippers.

I'm an out-of-towner and was looking for a place to party that was big enough and packed enough for a San Diego boy. I was wonderfully surprised at this fun hot spot. Yes, there is line dancing until they turn on the dance music at 1 a.m., but if you don't appreciate the step, then get drunk and enjoy the view! There is plenty of club/bar to make some rounds around the place. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Phoenix!

Charlie's is a strange bar. It is mostly a country bar that has a friendly down to earth crowd, cheap drinks and cute bartenders. Weekend nights are another story. They are open for "after hours" and change to different music that caters to a mostly ethnic crowd. A strange mix. So it depends on when you go as to what you will see. They recently remodeled and it looks nice.

while the bar is spacious, the liquor cheap and the bartenders friendly, ain't a whole lot to do at this place unless you know how to two-step to "countrified" pop songs. you have to wait til at LEAST 12:30am on weekend nights for dance music to come on. before that, you get to watch 12 people take up the entire dance floor for about 3 hours of line dancing only THEY know the steps to. you can also play volleyball there on sundays at 4:30p....IF the unfriendly regulars rotate you in.

YUCK! What is so great about this place? I thought cowboy bars were supposed to be friendly? I tried to strike up a chat with several guys, and every single one of them threatened to beat me up. Literally. Weird place. Lots of studs, but a very nasty environment, and I didn't think the studs there were as hot as the studs at Apollo's. Go figure. But, lots of people love this stuff, so...whatever. Maybe I'm still too East Coast.

Was here for Gay World Series in August, and had a good time! The dance floor was always hopping, full of guys (probably the 100+ teams that were in town), and met some really nice people. The staff was friendly, service was fairly quick (got quicker with a nice tip!), and the patio is a great place to get away from the music and smoke! Overall, an enjoyable experience here!

I was in PHX for 22 months on a consulting contract in 1987 and 1988 and my first stop after driving in was Charlie’s. That was a long time ago and I recently was in PHX for a meeting and stopped by again; I found the same thing as I did in 1987...a great, friendly and enduring place. The folks are genuine, friendly and very polite. Like I titled this review, it a great "starting place" with something there for everyone. Give it a try.

I had to get used to the "Howdy Pardner" cowboy drag at the door, but it was in good fun. Each time I've been there there was a different "theme". I always felt comfortable. Friendly staff and crowd. I somehow always end up here, maybe from lack of other options but I will be back

I must say I am not a good fan of the club scene, but this bar just made for me to just hang out and have fun with my friends. I took some of my Lady friends to see the drag show and they loved it. Can't wait for the next time we all are of to go again

I was told the "old" charlies had a more small country bar appeal, but the remodel certainly made it a lot better. Bigger dance floor, better music, awesome after hours. This is definitely a great place to get good, cheap drinks and have a good time.

I liked it met so many people on the way into the club and so much more on the inside. There is definitely something for everyone here. The music was good I expected to hear country but didn't so that was a plus but I guess it depends on the day. As for drinks I didn't have a problem the only thing was last call and that the same everywhere.

Charlies is friendly and a great place to meet people. Wide age span, so there is something for everyone.

A great place to meet and hang with friends. Country music until 2am then a mix-in with after-hours. Place can get pretty crowded and its best to start showing up around 10pm, and a total of three bars complete your drinking desires.

I went for the dancing. I found that like any other bar of this type there were the die hard country boys bent on 2 steppin. Good for me. I was, however, charged 3 different prices for the same beer. Who ever designed the "remodel" should be fired. This is a difficult place to traverse when it's full of people. Nice bathroom. What makes this place OK for me is that all the negatives were well compensated by the quality of the patrons. A nice bunch of guys.

Dont light a match. The Hispanic kids here wear way too much perfume here. Nice remodel of the old building but the staff has not evolved from the fifth grade. Drink specials suck and you have to wait way to long to get a watered down drink. Cant see any reason to ever go back. Miss this one if your in town for a short time.

I went into this bar crossdressed 5 years ago and loved it. Staff is friendly. The crowd however, is younger, rowdy and not as open-minded - I no longer feel as safe here after hours.

This place has been the same for years, bigger now. Any type of person you want you can find there. Very friendly customers and most of the staff is pleasant. My place to go for entertainment.. Keep up the good job!

This place has changed so much since I was here last year. It seems that they remodled and it is even more of a hassle to get around then before. The only thing that was nice about it was the bathroom. The bartenders all had attitudeds and acted like children. The dj's music was the same as it was last year when I was visiting just dont understand all that. So if visiting Phoenix I would skip this bar. IT SUCKS.

I have to say I was disappointed with this place.. I spoke to quite a handful of people we were all in agreement..the DJ plays teh same music week after week. They would be smarter to just burn a few disc with some more current songs as well as mix in some classics. Is it me or is it the same people that dance there every week.. like some freak country cult. Tried to take country dance lessons, never agian. The instructor was ready to bust out of his tight jeans..need to graduate up to a size 44 honey. He was the worst insructor, you can tell his heart was not into it..just moved to quickly.. SKip it cowboys!!

This place used to be the place to go to. However, the Dj here has no clue about what reason he is there for..the people. He continually plays the same songs week after week, month after month. last time there my friends and I were betting as to what song would be next..sadly we were actually right a few times. Hey Charlie's fire the DJ and save some money burn some discs with current and some classic country.
The after hours crowd has really become questionable...where are these people coming from..I guess Charlies is desperate at this point. I would skip this place.. Sunday afternoon are still cool from what I have witnessed.

The nice thing about this place is that you can actually breathe. The staff is friendly, however the crowd especially afterhours is going downhill rapidly. Don't set your expectations too high.

Lots of lycra shirts and too much cologne. They play country music between cumbias and techno line dances. Be prepared to smell like an ashtray when you leave. Inexpensive drinks before 9pm. Cab drivers love this bar.

This is not only the best place but the only C&W bar to goto.
So, what do you say?
