I'm an out-of-towner and was looking for a place to party that was big enough and packed enough for a San Diego boy. I was wonderfully surprised at this fun hot spot. Yes, there is line dancing until they turn on the dance music at 1 a.m., but if you don't appreciate the step, then get drunk and enjoy the view! There is plenty of club/bar to make some rounds around the place. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Phoenix!

Charlie's is a strange bar. It is mostly a country bar that has a friendly down to earth crowd, cheap drinks and cute bartenders. Weekend nights are another story. They are open for "after hours" and change to different music that caters to a mostly ethnic crowd. A strange mix. So it depends on when you go as to what you will see. They recently remodeled and it looks nice.

while the bar is spacious, the liquor cheap and the bartenders friendly, ain't a whole lot to do at this place unless you know how to two-step to "countrified" pop songs. you have to wait til at LEAST 12:30am on weekend nights for dance music to come on. before that, you get to watch 12 people take up the entire dance floor for about 3 hours of line dancing only THEY know the steps to. you can also play volleyball there on sundays at 4:30p....IF the unfriendly regulars rotate you in.

YUCK! What is so great about this place? I thought cowboy bars were supposed to be friendly? I tried to strike up a chat with several guys, and every single one of them threatened to beat me up. Literally. Weird place. Lots of studs, but a very nasty environment, and I didn't think the studs there were as hot as the studs at Apollo's. Go figure. But, lots of people love this stuff, so...whatever. Maybe I'm still too East Coast.
